All of these sites operate almost identically but each site focuses on the region that their respective names indicate. These sites are truly brilliant. What makes these sites so great, is what also makes them a bit difficult to use. The owners of these sites decided, rather than just creating a whole new database of foreign women, why not leverage existing “regular” dating sites in each country, for that purpose. What they did was legally lift or borrow profiles from dating sites in Latin America that really only were viewable in its own countries language on a local dating website. That is, these sites are really just normal internet dating sites that have been translated into English and then turn around and cater to an international audience. That makes them incredibly intriguing because men can meet more “typical” females on these sites than they theoretically can on traditional foreign dating sites. Plus, many Latina ladies who would themselves target an international audience of men are signing up on these sites. The upside of this strategy is that oftentimes there are more sincere women on these sites (for now anyway). Plus, the sheer number of women on these sites is huge and growing rapidly. Although it appears that membership profiles overlap at the Cupid Media sites, LatinAmericanCupid currently has over 1,000,000 members.  The number one strength of these sites is their sheer number of women. A second interesting and positive feature of these sites is that men can actually communicate with women (who are paying members themselves) without paying one single cent.

The most notable downside to these sites is that men may find that their women are sometimes not as receptive to Western men as the women at other more traditional foreign dating and marriage websites such as my number 1 and 2 choices here. Another downside is that the women sometimes only write in their native language and the translation software that converts such into English is not even close to perfect. Since the cost of using this service is basically one of the lowest in the industry however, and the sheer number of women coming on these sites is so high, I give them the # 4 Best of Latin American Dating Sites Choice Award. For Western men who do not mind a bit of digging around to find a diamond in the rough and are comfortable using online translation software or not always getting the gist of a message, these sites will seem like the Holy Grail. Amigos is a foreign dating site in the popular Friend Finder network and currently has over 8 million (and growing) members making it the 800-pound gorilla in its space. Since it is a worldwide site, it can be viewed in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. It is important to point out that this site is mainly geared toward introducing Latinos to each other but any Western man interested in meeting Latin women can also use it to meet lovely Latinas. Given the number of men on this site, there is a pretty high level of competition. Because there is so much competition however, the site provides everything under the sun for people to try and differentiate themselves from everybody else.

So how does Amigos work? Well that is a good question because the site is a bit confusing at first with all of its many and varied features. First of all, Western men can set up a profile for free or as a paying subscriber. The costs are described in the paragraph below. After you set up a profile, which takes about ten minutes and requires that you describe yourself, you can do searches for Latin women. With a free membership, besides all the normal things you find on an internet dating site, you can profile your personality to determine compatibility with other members, confirm your identification to allow women to be more comfortable with you, shine with additional qualities, add video of yourself, and keep a hot list of women. The downside of the free membership is that you can’t view large pictures of the women, you don’t get to see all of their details in their profile, and you generally can’t communicate with the women (unless they are paying members). On the other hand, you can upgrade for not too much money to either a Silver or Gold membership. Under the Silver plan, you can contact all the women and see a woman’s entire profile and pictures. Also, your profile will show up before non-paying members profiles and you get more exact searching capabilities.

You can also pay a little more again to have your profile highlighted in yellow, but this isn’t really necessary.

Okay, now that you have digested all of the above, let’s go into a little more detail about the features available on the site. This site allows for both text and video chat, sending winks (flirting) to other members, instant messenger, creating a blog about yourself to really connect with other members, join or create an interest group, create a Cupid Match email service where your “dream” women are emailed to you every week, post announcements, etc. etc. etc. Whew, you better clear your calendar if you plan to use all these features! Another nice thing is the search capabilities.
