Asia FriendFinder is the veritable mother load when it comes to introductions for people of Asian descent. There is a mind boggling 8.5 million (and growing) people on this site that caters to a broad geographical and ethnic mixture of Asian people that spans almost half of the planet and includes, the United States, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, India, and many other countries. The majority of the people on this site are far and away from China however. Let’s put these numbers into perspective. My number one and two choices for meeting lovely Asian ladies online contain less than 100,000 women combined. You might be asking, what gives? Well, for starters, Asia FriendFinder is a site designed for the Asian community to promote introductions, for both men and women as well as Asian and non-Asian alike. It is therefore not specifically a service to introduce Asian women to Western men. It should be noted that there is a high level of competition here with millions of men, Asian and non-Asian, looking for women. So it is clear with this type of site that Western men need to spend far more time perfecting their profile than on other sites without so much competition. Also, Western men will need to dig a lot harder here to find women both because any individual lady might not be looking for him in particular, and the fact that there are so many women to wade through. So how does AsiaFriendFinder work? Well that is a good question because the site is a bit confusing at first with all of its many and varied features. First of all, Western men can set up a profile for free or as a paying subscriber. The costs are described in the paragraph below. After you set up a profile, which takes about ten minutes and requires that you describe yourself, you can do searches for Asian women. With a free membership, besides all the normal things you find on an internet dating site, you can profile your personality to determine compatibility with other members, confirm your identification to allow women to be more comfortable with you, shine with additional qualities, add video of yourself, and keep a hot list of women. The downside of the free membership is that you can’t view large pictures of the women, you don’t get to see all of their details in their profile, and you generally can’t communicate with the women (unless they are paying members). On the other hand, you can upgrade for not too much money to either a Silver or Gold membership. Under the Silver plan, you can contact all the women and see a woman’s entire profile and pictures. Also, your profile will show up before non-paying members profiles and you get more exact searching capabilities.
Under the Gold membership plan, you get all the benefits of the Silver membership and you also get to be on top of all the listings and search results. This is really important actually because thousands more women will view your profile than if you didn’t have this benefit in place. Plus, you get exclusive access to new women’s profiles for three days. Again, this can make all the difference because oftentimes women will get sick of all the men contacting them after a few days and not even give new men a chance. You also get keyword search capability and you get Cupid Match email reports of new matching members. The Gold membership costs are as follows:

As of May 2009, the 12 month subscription comes with 6 extra free months, which makes it a cost of $5.49/month. That is certainly hard to beat and I would recommend that men go with this option. Given the added benefits that the Gold membership offers, it is unquestionably better than the Silver membership plan for actually meeting women. Plus, it is also better for attracting women because most of the time women are impressed with a man with the Gold membership (I know that sounds silly but it is true). If however, you don’t need this extra edge you may want to purchase the Silver membership plan. The cost of this plan is as follows:

But again, the difference is just so tiny that men should probably just go with the Gold membership plan. In addition to all those costs, men can pay a little more and allow standard (free) members to view and contact them. If you don’t do this, standard (free) members can’t see your entire profile and even worse they cannot contact you! You can also pay a little more again to have your profile highlighted in yellow, but this isn’t really necessary.
Okay, now that you have digested all of the above, let’s go into a little more detail about the features available on the site. This site allows for both text and video chat, sending winks (flirting) to other members, instant messenger, creating a blog about yourself to really connect with other members, join or create an interest group, create a Cupid Match email service where your “dream” women are emailed to you every week, post announcements, etc. etc. etc. Whew, you better clear your calendar if you plan to use all these features! Another nice thing is the search capabilities. You can search with all the normal height, weight, age, etc. criteria as well as look for members online now, who was recently online, new members, new matches, members locations, most popular members, members who have viewed you, quick matches to see members with similar personalities, and more. A few extra interesting features, are that you can refer friends, vote on articles, certain topics, or reply to questions, all earning you points in the system. Plus, if you have a super interesting profile that is viewed by a certain number of members within a three-day period, you’ll automatically be given access to 50 members profiles with the ability to contact them if you are a non-paying member. All these points earned by you, can be used to upgrade your membership or highlight your profile.
There are many different sites in the Friend Finder network, but besides Asia FriendFinder, I wanted to also highlight Filipino FriendFinder. For those of you that do not know it, women from the Philippines have a world famous beauty. That is why some men focus primarily on the Philippines.
